The Fabergé Museum

The Fabergé Museum

On November 19, 2013, the official opening ceremony of Russia's first non-state Fabergé Museum was held at the Shuvalov Palace in St. Petersburg. The museum's founding organization is the "Link of Times" Cultural-Historical Foundation, established in 2004 by Viktor Vekselberg with the aim of returning lost cultural treasures to Russia.

The idea of creating a series of museums in Russia dedicated to the work of the great jeweler Carl Fabergé emerged at the "Link of Times" Foundation after Viktor Vekselberg's acquisition in 2004 of the unique Fabergé collection assembled by Malcolm Forbes. From that moment on, the foundation began forming a collection of Russian decorative, applied, and fine arts. To date, it already comprises over 4,000 items and, in terms of its scale, typological diversity, and the supreme quality of the works—many of which belonged to the imperial family and other representatives of European monarchical courts—it is undoubtedly one of the best in the world.
